This grant combines two applications submitted by the United Way and GHS.The Greenville County School District released the following statement: “At approximately 12:30 pm, Greenville County Schools had reports of shots fired inside the building at Tanglewood Middle School. Coalition members include the United Way of Greenville County, SHARE Head Start and Greenville County School District. Research shows that trauma in childhood can rewire how the brain develops, potentially making the now adult more subject to chronic diseases and psychiatric disorders. Shorthanded as ACE’s, the traumas include abuse and neglect. Part of the program’s mission would be to build resiliency in children exposed to adverse childhood events. Elementary schools will be targeted, as will Greenville middle schools like Berea, Tanglewood and Lakeview, as well as Greenville Early College. The project will focus on West Greenville. The program would provide students with health education as well as nutritional and physical activity opportunities and psychological support. $3.38 million over five years to a coalition led by GHS that will create a streamlined comprehensive health initiative that serves Greenville County’s highest-need children. The Greenville Health Authority (GHA) Board of Trustees on Tuesday announced the first grant recipients of its landmark $80 million 20-year pledge to help make Greenville County the healthiest county in America by 2036. Progress report grades will be due in 2 weeks!.

Formative Assessment is key to student progress! Grading assignments and providing feedback ON TIME will yield greater student buy-in, ownership, and academic achievement.

With the exception of our Science department, everyone is required to follow the district policy regarding grades a minimum of 12 minors and 3 majors, keeping a similar ratio if you do more.

This will help with keeping our halls safe and orderly.

ALL FACULTY AND STAFF, remember to stand out in the hall at class change.

Also, try your best to have at least one teacher on the inside of the cafeteria line to ensure procedures are being followed! This will ensure a smooth process through the line. If students begin to get too loud or disruptive in the line, one of the most simple strategies you can implement is sitting with your students, if you are not already.

Please remember to monitor lunchroom behavior.

Some days we will do simple body scans other days we will have quiet music time and some days students will be asked to do a brief and simple breathing or speaking activity. At 8:25, we will need your assistance with ensuring that your students are seated and prepared. We will begin morning mindfulness over the intercom soon.They will document and handle the student.

If you notice a dress code violation, make a mental note, and let the student know at the end of class and follow up with an email/face-to-face with that student's grade level administrator.

However, we will NOT remove students from instructional time for dress code violations, unless extremely distracting to the learning environment.

Please remember to continue to remind students to follow dress code.

We will let you know when they have arrived. The badge will be collected at the end of the school day. Students who do not have their IDs will need to wear this ID instead so that everyone knows that the student has been reprimanded and documented.
